Miming Chronicles

It settled suspicions from the office rumor-mongers: Marck, a colleague at work is gay. We see each other in the bar and exclamations and questions were unnecessary. I have it now confirmed.

He saw me sitting alone in a table, drinking my supposed last bottle of light beer when he approached me.

"Sino'ng kasama mo?"
"Wala."
"Ha? Parang ang lungkot naman n'un."
"Not really. Masaya rin naman."
"So loner ka? Loner-type ka 'no?
"Hinde, nagkataon lang na hindi pwede ang mga pwede kong isama. So ayun."
"Kasama 'ko friends ko. Sa amin ka na lang sumama. Hindi ka na ba papasok? Pasok tayo. Ipapakilala kita."

How could I refuse such a generous offer? We went in. It was still the same crowded, steamy place I last left. I was practically tailing him. He introduced me to people from here and there, from each corners of the bar. Our guy here seems popular. He's quite known to the residents, a certified true Obarista.

What I don't understand is that he keeps asking me: "Sino ba gusto mo?" which I only kept on responding by saying, "Ano?" or "Kahit sino". He reasoned by saying; "Ipapakilala kita" or, "Irereto kita, akong bahala sa iyo". I had to cut him a bit. He somehow crossed the line by being too nice to provide what I didn't ask for. So I just said: "I only go here to drink and dance a bit. That's all. Kung may makikipagkilala, bonus na yun." I appeared alien to him. You can really see in his face that he's surprised I'm not interested in meeting guys at the bar at all. Pleasantries went on for almost an hour. He asked me about 9 times if I was still okay. By the 10th, I had to say that he didn't have to worry for me and he only had to do his thing.

As dawn broke outside, I noticed I couldn't see Marck anywhere close anymore. I was worried so I had to look for him all over the place, twice. When I have concluded maybe someone managed to take him as a loot or perhaps out of too much drunkenness he left and forgot to say good-bye, I fled the scene and tried reviving my own sanity with a canned mocha drink. You came in without him, you go out without him. Ayus lang.

It was a good night -

except it bothered me that he sensed me inside and out, and I felt like being taken cared of as a patient or a kid with such a degree of sincerity as if there's something wrong with me. I've heard of sensory-type individuals but on the other hand, It could have been me. Did I say something wrong? Was I careless again with how I displayed my eyes or with how my true emotions were written all over my face?

Marck is a good guy. No qualms. But the attention sucked, big time.
I wonder what he has to say by Monday.
